Restoration Work Kicks Off at Old Gt Road, Gujrat
Gujrat: According to press reports, reconstruction work has begun on the historic Grand Trunk (G.T.) Road near the Kathala Railway Crossing, where the road was in the poorest condition.
According to the details, the G.T road that traveled through Gujrat city needed maintenance. It was also reported that the road needed to be rebuilt because Gujrat city was growing toward the Kathala railway crossing, close to the Chenab River.
Deputy Commissioner Mehtab Waseem Azhar shared information about the project, revealing that the road will be built from Kathala Chenab to Rehmania Bridge and cross the Bhimbher stormwater channel.

According to reports, the Punjab government approved the rehabilitation of the G.T. road at the cost of PKR 1 billion on the advice of the federal minister for water resources, Moonis Elahi. The project had originally received PKR 250 million from Punjab’s yearly development budget. The responsible authorities predict that the project will be finished in a year.
