Road Schemes in Lower Dir Face Suspension
Social and political activists have complained that some development projects initiated in the district many years ago are still underway.
Speaking to this correspondent, they urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government to pay attention to this issue and accelerate work on these projects.

Local trader leaders Haji Anwar Uddin, Haji Raikh Zada and Malik Dirawal Khan have expressed their anger at the delay in construction of the bypass road and Khazana bypass bridge.

They said construction work on the Kalpani Talash Bypass began in 2015 after approval by the state’s then PTI government. They said that work on the Chakdara Bypass Road and Hazana Bypass Bridge also started about six years ago, but the projects are still ongoing. Shah Azam, a resident of Dr. Jandr, said the closure of the Khazana bypass bridge forced heavy trucks heading to Jandr and Afghanistan to pass through the town of Timgala, causing traffic chaos.
Shafiullah Khan, CM’s special anti-corruption assistant, said the government was aware of the delays in these projects. He said work on the Talash Bypass will resume soon. He said work on the project remains slow due to the Covid-19 pandemic and other reasons.
