SC Wants Speedy Construction of Bridges on KCR Route
Karachi: The Supreme Court has ordered the Sindh government to finish the PC-I, contract signing, and work order issuance for the building of underpasses and overhead bridges along the proposed route of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) within one month.

In its Thursday judgement, a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed instructed the provincial government to make the necessary financial resources available to the Frontier Works Organization, which was tasked with executing the project, so that it could be completed as quickly as possible.
It ordered the advocate general of Sindh to provide a report in a month’s time.
The FWO attorney noted that the feasibility report for the project had been authorised by the railroads and given to the Sindh government, but neither PC-I nor the contract had been approved, nor had a work order been issued. Additionally, he stated that cash had not yet been released.

The bench questioned Mr. Talibuddin and demanded an explanation for why the necessary action had not been taken despite repeated and unequivocal court orders in which the deadline for completion of the project was also specified.
In addition, the provincial government’s maximum financial commitment of Rs 6 billion would stay unchanged.
