SCCI Rejects Implementation of New Industrial Policy for KP
Peshawar: Sherbaz Bilour, president of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), expressed grave concern over the chamber being ignored in the 15-member committee charged with ensuring the implementation of the KP Industrial Policy, 2020 under the action plan and rejected the suggested body.

He claimed that without the chamber’s representation and the inclusion of pertinent stakeholders, achieving the goals of the province industrial policy would not only be difficult but also impossible.
The head of the SCCI reported that the provincial government had approved the industrial policy 2020, which intends to grant special economic zone status to six industrial estates located in various Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) districts and revitalise the province’s ailing businesses.

The SCCI chief highlighted that the chamber needed to be involved because it is the largest trade organisation and a key stakeholder in the province’s industrialization programme. He specifically mentioned the revival of ailing industries.
In order to allay concerns and ensure prompt implementation of the new provincial industrial policy, Sherbaz Bilour requested that the provincial administration include participation from the chamber in the planned committee for implementing the industrial policy.
