Schools Reopened in Islamabad and Rawalpindi After Vacations
ISLAMABAD, January 9, 2023- Amid the rumors of more holidays, schools reopened in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on January 9, 2023.
The academic process has begun in the schools and colleges of Islamabad and Punjab from today, January 9, despite the frigid weather, with the kids reporting to class with heavy hearts. Social media reports spread over the weekend suggested that the Federal Education Ministry has postponed the 7 January closing date for schools and institutions in Islamabad. The Ministry quickly refuted the false information.

The Ministry first announced on December 13 that schools and institutions would be closed from December 26 to December 31. The Ministry had extended the break in Islamabad’s public and private educational institutions to January 7 on December 29. But today has also seen the reopening of schools and institutions in Punjab. The Punjab government reportedly extended the winter break for students in schools and colleges last week. The initial notification of the closure of schools and institutions from December 24 to December 31 came from both SED and HED. On January 2, classes were supposed to start up again. However, because of the cold, the holidays were extended until January 7.
