Search for Land for ‘Sialkot Surgical City’ Project
Sialkot: The government sought a suitable piece of land for building a “Surgical City” in Sialkot in order to stimulate the local surgical sector, which is more than a century old, and increase exports of surgical items.

Thursday in this city, Gujranwala Division Commissioner Zulfiqar Ghumman made this statement during a meeting of the Project Management and Implementation Unit that was also attended by leaders of the city’s major trade associations.
During the meeting, the commissioner discussed the relocation rate of the city’s dispersed tanneries to the Sialkot Tannery Zone (STZ).
To reduce environmental pollution in the area, he instructed the concerned authorities and local trade organizations to expedite the relocation of tanneries to the city’s outskirts.

The SCCI, Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP), and other major trade organizations applauded the Surgical City initiative and pledged their support. STZ chairman Chaudhry Raza Munir stated that early relocation of tanneries to the STZ was the top goal of the local business community in order to provide future generations with a pollution-free environment.
