Sewage Water Treatment Plant Approved for Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi: According to news reports, the Punjab government has approved the construction of a sewage treatment facility and a 20-kilometer-long sewerage tunnel for safe wastewater disposal and the reduction of environmental pollution.
According to government sources, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to give the estimated PKR 30 billion in necessary cash. According to reports, the ADB and National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) will conduct a two-month survey for the sewage treatment plant project, and, if approved, the project will break ground in March 2022.
Chairman of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Tariq Murtaza referred to it as a big project. The sewage tunnel would connect Rawalpindi’s drains to the treatment facility.

In addition, it was emphasised that after the tunnel is constructed, Nullah Leh will only be used as a storm drain.
On 5 500 kanals now controlled by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Gorakhpur, it is rumoured that a water treatment plant will be constructed. This facility will process all of Rawalpindi’s sewage, which will ultimately be discharged into the Soan River.
