SHC Ordered Recovery Illegally Occupied Forest Land in Sukkur
According to media sources, on Tuesday the Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the recovery of 17,000 acres of unlawfully occupied forest land and the suspension of water supplies to encroached regions by the Irrigation Department.

Justices Umar Sial and Abdul Mobeen Lakho of the SHC Circuit bench ordered the Irrigation Department to suspend the delivery of water to land grabbers while considering a constitutional challenge over the recovery of forest areas from land squatters.
One of the land squatters, Sarfraz Nizamani, has indicated that he has left the property. However, Qazi Abdul Jabbar, the Chief Conservator of Sindh, maintained that despite occupying 4,000 acres, Nizamani had only released 20 acres of land.

In addition, he informed the SHC that 17,000 acres of forest land are now in use, whereas 250,000 acres are abandoned. The court ordered the forest service to recover the land. The hearing has been postponed until 8 September 2021.
