Sindh Government to Regularize Katchi Abadies
Tuesday, the head of Sindh’s ruling party gave ownership certificates to 150 residents of the Katchi Abadies in the Larkana district, according to press sources (January 25). The letters were distributed as part of a new program introduced as part of the first phase of the Sindh Katchi Abadis Authority (SKAA).

According to the report, 6,500 plots in eleven katchi abadies in the district of Larkana will be regularized in the initial phase. In the province, 45 such residential slums exist. According to the chairman, the SKAA will aid in the regularization of residential land, which will provide houses for a significant proportion of the community. Liaquat Askani, chairman of the SKAA, stated that the project would be implemented gradually in other regions of the province.

He went on to explain why such operations are important, stating that people of such slums have inhabited the property without legal documentation for the past four decades. According to him, this plan will give a long-term solution to the nation’s housing shortage.
