Six Sectors Relying on Margalla Road, Says EPA
According to news reports, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) told the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Tuesday that the Margalla Road is included in the master plan of Islamabad and is utilized by six residential areas.

Farzana Altaf Shah, director general of the Pak-EPA, hosted a public meeting at the Convention Center in Islamabad to discuss the development of Magalla Avenue from Sangjani to the D-12 area.
In their presentation, CDA officials informed the DG EPA that Margalla Avenue was intended to provide an alternative way for the public to access Islamabad. It was also intended to be an alternative path for newly constructed projects and future industries.

Officials from the CDA stated that the project’s budget was PKR 3.29 billion, of which 3% was allocated to the environmental budget.
Several members of the public voiced their concerns and stated that the project was detrimental to the environment. After hearing all of the opinions, the EPA administrator noted that all of the meeting’s important concerns will be considered with the CDA to determine future steps. The EPA will authorize the CDA to proceed only under certain conditions.
