The Holy Night of Shab e Barat 2023 in Pakistan
Shab e Barat the ‘Night of Freedom and Forgiveness’ is one of the most blessed events in Islamic ideology and is therefore celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. Shab e Barat is celebrated on the night of 14th and on the 15th of Shaban. Muslims around the world cook sweets on the night of 14th Shaban and distribute them amongst their relatives, neighbours and the poor as a sign of sharing sweetness of their lives with each other.

According to islamic lunar calendars the next date starts after the sun sets. Therefore the celebrations began on the night of 14th Shaban after Maghrib prayers. Kids play with fireworks and light candles to celebrate it in their own way.
Muslims head towards the mosque to spend the entire night in prayers and asking for forgiveness. Since it is believed that the fortune for the entire year, the fate of a person and his life span is decided on this holy night. Moreover it is believed that Allah grants forgiveness to his people on Shab e barat.

Some people also observe fasting on the 15th of Shaban and recite the holy Quran to spend the entire day in good deeds. The last Prophet of Allah Almighty often spends the month of Shaban in Fasting. He (SAWW) Said to Hazrat Ali (A.S)
“When the 15th night of Shaban arrives, wake up for qayam, do nawafil, and observe a fast on the day of the fifteenth of Sha’ban.”
People visit the graveyards of their beloved souls and recite Fatiha. The night of Shab e Barat is also mentioned in the Quran in Surah Dukhan (Surah No. 44, Ayat No. 3-5) as one the most prestigious and holy nights.
Shab e Barat would be celebrated on the night of 7th March in Pakistan that is on Tuesday, and muslims will observe the fast on Wednesday.
