Timeline Shared for Completion of Gwadar International Airport
Islamabad: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has offered a timeline for the completion of Gwadar International Airport, according to news sources. The 4,300-acre Greenfield airport, which is being constructed for USD 246 million, will open for business in September 2023, it was disclosed.
According to the report, the passenger terminal building at the airport will be completed by June 2023, and the air traffic control work will be completed by March 2023. The entirety of the airport’s construction project will be completed by September 2023.
Notably, the international airport will be operated and controlled by CAA in compliance with the open sky policy and will be a joint venture between Pakistan, China, and Oman. Once constructed, the airport will manage both domestic and international flights.

Moreover, the project is a component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It will be the largest airport in Pakistan and is expected to boost trade between Pakistan and China.
