Timeline Shared for KP’s Hydel Power Projects
Peshawar: According to news reports, the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization has stated that the three hydropower projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), with a combined capacity for electricity generation of 62.8 megawatts (MW), will be finished by June 2022.

Mahmood Khan, the chief minister of KP, was informed by the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization about the status of hydel power projects. According to the specifics, the projects consist of the 10.2 MW Jabori, 11.2 MW Karora, and 40.8 MW Koto hydropower plants. When the projects are finished, PKR 2.73 billion in revenue is anticipated each year.
Additionally, CM Khan gave the concerned commissioners and deputy commissioners a month to address all issues pertaining to the purchase of land for the Kalam and Balakot hydropower projects.

Additionally, the meeting updated the participants on the status of hydropower projects with foreign funding. Three projects—the 157-megawatt Madain, 300-megawatt Balakot, and 88-megawatt Gabral Kalam hydropower projects—are now under construction.
In addition, plans for solarization were reviewed at the meeting. The attendees were made aware that seven projects were now under construction. Details indicate that 13 solar mini-grid stations are under construction in tribal territories, and 2,956 mosques have been solarized. Additionally, it was said that 143 basic health units and 6,983 schools had been solarized.
