Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the construction of two new six-lane motorway sections in Punjab as part of efforts to expand Pakistan’s highway network.
The minister ordered that the Sialkot–Kharian and Kharian–Rawalpindi sections be developed as six-lane motorways. The instructions were given during a review meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA), attended by senior officials including the communications secretary and the NHA chairman.
During the meeting, Abdul Aleem Khan stressed the need to improve transport infrastructure and speed up work on major highway projects. He also instructed officials to ensure strict technical standards and accurate feasibility studies for all ongoing and future projects.
He also expressed concern over delays in several development projects and said timely completion of national infrastructure work remains a top priority for the government.
