Work on Faisalabad SEZ in Full Swing
Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa, chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Department, said development work at the Allama Iqbal special economic zone in Faisalabad is progressing well.

On his social media handle, Mr Bajwa said several Pakistani and foreign industries have started construction of his SEZ.
He said 2,276 acres of land have been designated for this zone. He said 33% of his land was purchased by local investors and 182 acres by foreign investors.
Last Wednesday, Bajwa said his 88% of work on the 720-megawatt Karot hydropower project, CPEC’s first hydropower project, was completed. In September 2018, the closure of the river was completed and the full-scale construction phase began. It aims to meet the electricity needs of approximately 2 million households annually and provide approximately $20 million in taxes.
