The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the first day of Zil Hajj will fall on Monday, 18 May 2026, paving the way for Eid-ul-Azha celebrations across Pakistan later this month.
According to the announcement, Eid-ul-Azha will be observed on 10 Zil Hajj 1447 AH, which corresponds to Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
The committee confirmed the dates after reviewing both scientific data and verified moon sighting reports before issuing the final decision on the start of the Islamic month.
As per the Islamic calendar, the Day of Arafah will be observed on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, which falls on the 9th of Zil Hajj and precedes Eid-ul-Azha.
Authorities noted that the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee follows a combination of astronomical calculations and physical moon sighting testimonies to determine the beginning of Islamic months in Pakistan.
