An 18-month-old girl lost her life after a Suthra Punjab truck collided with a motorcycle on a bridge along Ferozepur Road in Lahore on Sunday.

The child’s parents sustained serious injuries in the accident and were shifted for medical treatment.

According to a spokesperson for the Lahore Traffic Police, members of the public apprehended the truck driver following the crash and assaulted him before police arrived at the scene.

A traffic inspector from Kot Lakhpat reached the location shortly afterward, took the driver into custody, and brought the situation under control. The driver, the truck, and the damaged motorcycle were later handed over to the relevant police station for further legal proceedings.

Previous Safety Concerns Raised

Traffic police officials said they had previously written to the concerned authorities, recommending comprehensive training for drivers operating Suthra Punjab vehicles.

According to official data, vehicles belonging to Suthra Punjab and the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) were involved in four fatal road accidents during 2025–26, resulting in the deaths of 10 people.

The latest incident has renewed calls for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations, improved monitoring of heavy vehicles, and mandatory driver training to help prevent similar accidents in the future.
