Access to Specific Areas of Islamabad Restricted Pak Day Parade
Islamabad: According to news sources published on Wednesday, the government has announced that some public sites in the federal city will remain closed due to full-dress rehearsals and the Pakistan Day Parade (March 9). On March 23, the National Day Parade will take place at the Parade Ground in Islamabad.

According to reports, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqaat has ordered that some public places be closed on March 16, 18, 20, and 23. The following public locations will be closed to avoid any adverse situations and to make the Pakistan Day Parade more convenient for the guests:
- Café 1969
- Lok Virsa Museum
- Pakistan Monument
- Pakistan Museum of Natural History
- Open Air Theatre
- ITP Office
Any other major facility on Garden Avenue, in close vicinity of Parade Ground likely to affect traffic control/security aspects on said dates.
According to reports, preparations for the National Day Parade are well underway, with the military also organizing exercises for the occasion. Foreign Ministers from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are expected to join this year’s march, according to reports (OIC). With this in mind, the Islamabad government has put in place watertight security measures for the event.

In a related event, Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has declared three holidays in Islamabad for the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ (CFM) 48th session and Pakistan Day. The city has declared the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of March to be public holidays.
