ADB Appoints New Country Director for Pakistan
Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Yong Ye to the position of country director for Pakistan.

Ye will oversee ADB’s operations in Pakistan and the Islamabad-based Pakistan Resident Mission. According to an ADB press release, he will also oversee the execution of ADB’s new national partnership strategy, 2021-2025, which focuses on enhancing economic management, developing resilience, and boosting competitiveness and private sector development.
He has over 27 years of expertise in international development finance and government administration. Before joining ADB in 2000, Ye, a citizen of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), served as a section chief at the PRC’s Ministry of Finance.

He possesses a Ph.D. in environmental economics, an MA in economics, and a BS in physics from Tsinghua University in the PRC. He succeeds Xiaohong Yang, who was recently named chief theme officer in the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department of the Asian Development Bank.
