ADB Approves USD 600 Million for Ehsaas Programme
Islamabad: According to media sources, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has authorized USD 600 million for Pakistan’s Ehsaas Programme under the Integrated Social Protection Development Programme.

ADB Country Director Yong Ye informed Ayub Khan, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, on the ADB’s portfolio in Pakistan. Under the Country Operation Business Plan, the ADB will support Pakistan with $6,3 billion, the director added (2021-2023).
In road and transportation, urban services, health and social protection, education, agriculture and irrigation, and energy, 32 projects totaling US$6.4 billion are now underway, according to the information. Under the Integrated Social Protection Development Programme, the government of Pakistan will receive assistance for the systematic and coordinated implementation of the Ehsaas Programme’s highest priorities.

Sharing more information about the program will also strengthen climate resilience and institutional capacity for social protection. It will improve access to health care, nutrition supplies, and basic and secondary education for children, adolescents, and women from low-income families.
In addition, according to the sources, the ADB provided USD 200 million to Ehsaas during COVID-19. It was announced that the ADB would also pay a grant of $3 million for this project.
