AJK Agreement with Chinese Firm for Kohala Hydropower Project
Islamabad: According to news reports, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government and the Chinese “Three Gorges Company” have signed a contract for the development of the 1,124 megawatt Kohala Hydropower Project.

According to reports, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will fund the construction of the Kohala Hydel Power Plant (CPEC). Hammad Azhar, the federal minister of energy, Raja Farooq Haider, the prime minister of the AJK, and other officials attended the event.
CPEC Authority Chairman Lieutenant General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa provided details on Twitter, stating that the project will bring in USD 2.4 billion in foreign investment, calling it the Chinese company’s largest investment in Pakistan.

At Kohala, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, there is a massive hydropower project called the Kohala Hydropower Project. Pakistan’s lack of energy will be addressed by this dam.
Imran Khan, Pakistan’s prime minister, and Nong Rong, China’s ambassador, signed the agreements after the project’s plan was completed in 2020.
