The Multan–Sukkur Motorway (M-5) will be temporarily closed to traffic daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM starting 16 June due to maintenance work on high-transmission towers and power lines being carried out by MEPCO.

According to Central Region Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, the section between Iqbalabad and Guddu will remain closed during these hours.

During the closure period, traffic will be diverted to alternative routes. Vehicles traveling from Multan to Sukkur will be redirected from Iqbalabad Interchange onto the N-5 National Highway, while traffic moving from Sukkur to Multan will be diverted from Guddu Interchange to the same national highway.

Heavy transport vehicles will not be allowed to enter the motorway via Rohri Toll Plaza during the restricted timings.

Officials noted that the detour adds approximately 148 kilometres to the journey, increasing travel time by around two hours for light vehicles and up to three hours for heavy transport vehicles.

Motorway Police have advised commuters to plan their trips in advance, allow extra travel time, and check route updates before departure. For assistance and real-time information, travelers can contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130.
