CAA to Improve Skardu Airport to Handle International Flights
Karachi: According to a news source, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) decided to upgrade the Skardu Airport in Gilgit-Baltistan. The airport will be able to accommodate international flights thanks to the proposed improvement, which will boost travel to the nation.

The aviation supervisor has requested that the Skardu Airport facilities be able to host international flights by June-July of this year, according to the information that has been made public. The airport is situated at an altitude of nearly 7,000 feet and is considered among the highest altitude airports in the world.
The two airport runaways will be fitted with contemporary CAT-I equipment to enable flying in unusual weather circumstances. A PIA Airbus-320 safely landed at the airport as a result of the CAA having previously launched a test flight to determine whether the airport would be ready to handle international aircraft.

In the beginning, bimonthly flights will be flown from Lahore to Gilgit and Skardu, according to PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez, and more will be added in the future, keeping the amount of passengers in mind.
