ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has cleared around 750 kanals of acquired land in Sector E-12, Islamabad. The move is expected to remove a major obstacle to development work in the long-delayed sector.
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf recently visited Sector E-12 to review the progress of development activities. During the visit, officials briefed him about the land that had remained under unauthorized occupation.
According to the CDA, the occupied land had affected development activities in parts of the sector. The chairman directed the relevant departments to speed up work on the cleared areas.
He also instructed officials to ensure that construction and development follow approved plans and required standards. The work is also to be carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The clearance operation was conducted with the cooperation of the Islamabad administration. The CDA said the action is part of its efforts to remove encroachments and protect acquired and public land.
Officials also briefed the chairman on the allotment process for genuine affectees. Allotment letters have been issued to applicants whose claims were verified and whose required legal formalities were completed.
During the verification process, the authority identified unauthorized structures and occupation on acquired state land. The CDA said legal action would be taken against individuals involved in unauthorized construction, occupation, or commercial use of the land.
Sector E-12 was launched in 1989 but has faced prolonged delays in development. The latest land clearance could allow development activities to move forward in the affected areas, subject to the completion of the remaining legal and administrative processes.
