ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recovered 1,133 kanals of government land in Sector E-12 after nearly four decades of occupation, according to a press release issued on October 19, 2026. The authority said the reclaimed land is worth billions of rupees and could help facilitate the sector’s planned development.
The operation was carried out on the directions of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi under the supervision of CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf. Officials from the CDA’s enforcement department, Islamabad administration and Islamabad Police participated in the drive.

The authority stated that the operation focused on removing encroachments and restoring government land for public purposes. Protecting the recovered area from future encroachment will also be important to ensure that it remains available for planned development.
Following the operation, the CDA said work in Sector E-12 was continuing at an accelerated pace. The recovered land is expected to support infrastructure development and help the authority move forward with its plans for the residential sector.

CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf has directed the relevant departments to complete development work within the stipulated timeframe and maintain the required quality standards. However, the authority has not announced a specific completion date for the sector’s development.
The land recovery marks a significant step in restoring public property, while the next phase will depend on continued enforcement and progress on essential infrastructure and civic facilities in Sector E-12.
