CPEC Moves in New Phase of High-quality Development: NDRC
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has entered a new era of high-quality growth, according to China’s top economic planner at a press conference. CPEC has made great progress in a variety of areas over the years.

According to Meng, as a significant Belt and Road Initiative pilot project, the CPEC will boost Pakistan’s socioeconomic development in several sectors, including energy and transportation.
According to the NDRC, the production of power plants in Sahiwal and Qasim accounts for 33 percent of Pakistan’s national power supply, alleviating electricity shortages.
Meanwhile, the first urban rail transit system in Lahore and the Karakorum-Peshawar-Karachi motorway have been built and opened to traffic. The La Shaqa’i Special Economic Zone will enhance bilateral industrial collaboration.

The NDRC spokeswoman stated that China and Pakistan will continue to deepen their collaboration on the Gwadar port, as well as energy and infrastructure projects, in order to support the CPEC’s high-quality growth.
Initiated in 2013, CPEC is a corridor that connects the Gwadar Port to Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China, emphasising infrastructure, energy, and industrial collaboration.
