ECC Approves Hajj Policy for 2023
On Monday, the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) adopted the Hajj 2023 Policy and decided to offer $90 million in foreign exchange insurance.
Senator Ishaq Dar, the federal minister of finance and revenue, presided over the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee.
A synopsis of the Hajj Policy 2023 was provided by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. Following debate, the meeting accepted the proposal and decided to offer $90 million in foreign exchange insurance.
According to the strategy, Pakistan has been given a 179,210 Hajj quota for the year 2023, which would be split equally between government and commercial Hajj programmes. Each will have a 50% quota set out for the sponsoring programme.
The private Hajj plan is predicted to produce over $250 million, bringing the total to over $440 million. The sponsorship programme for the official Hajj quota is anticipated to yield $194 million. The burden of foreign exchange should be lessened, according to the administration.
The preliminary Hajj Package for the Northern and Southern regions for the year 2023 is Rs. 1,175,000 and Rs. 1,165,000, respectively.
Also, the ECC granted technical supplementary grants (TSG) of Rs. 12 billion for the Planning Commission to conduct the 7th Population and Housing Census and Rs. 3.2 billion for Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety to conduct the National Poverty Graduation Program (NPGP).
