Mega Road Projects in Karachi Discussed by Center, Sindh
Karachi: Mauripur Expressway and IC Interchange Project-related land development concerns were discussed at the 6th Coordination Committee meeting between the Sindh Government and the federal Government.

They noted in the meeting that the RFP for the Mauripur Expressway and IC Interchange Project was launched in June of last year. In September, relevantly, technical bids were opened. Interchange at Lyari Bridge, Elevated U-turn, Marine Academy Flyover, Kakapir Road Widening and Flyover, Salt Field Area, ICI Flyover Ramp Road widening near ICI Intersection, and ICI Flyover connections are all under the jurisdiction of Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Pakistan Railways (PR), and the National Highway Authority (NHA). The NOCs of these departments are necessary to advance the project forward.

In response, the coordination committee instructed implying departments to produce no-objection certifications in order to launch the project. The meeting reduced the Right of Way (RoW) to 20 feet while addressing the repair of Gujjar and Orangi Nullah. Then, a 2-foot-tall wall will be constructed along the Nullah, and a 2-lane road will be constructed.
PC-1 for their immediate rehabilitation was submitted for approval to the Planning and Development Department, and PKR 1 billion of the PKR 2 billion earmarked for the project has been released.
