The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a criminal case against the management of the Senate Housing Society following allegations surrounding a decades-long delay in plot allotments. The action comes after numerous Senate employees reportedly waited more than 20 years to receive residential plots they had purchased, reviving hopes for affected members seeking long-overdue justice.
The matter was reviewed during a meeting of a Senate subcommittee chaired by Senator Saifullah Abro, where lawmakers questioned FIA officials over the prolonged investigation and the reasons behind the delay in resolving the case. The committee instructed the agency to expedite its inquiry and present a comprehensive progress report at the next meeting.
According to FIA officials, a First Information Report (FIR) has already been lodged against the society’s president, general secretary, and several other individuals under directives issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Officials informed the committee that legal proceedings are underway and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the investigation.
Committee members expressed concern that the housing society, originally established to provide residential plots for Senate employees, has yet to fulfill its primary purpose for many members. They also raised questions over the alleged involvement of individuals with no official affiliation to the Senate in managing the society’s affairs, which has contributed to uncertainty among genuine plot buyers.
Speaking during the meeting, Senator Saifullah Abro emphasized that Senate employees invested their hard-earned savings with the expectation of receiving residential plots within a reasonable timeframe. He stated that those responsible for any irregularities should be held accountable under the law and stressed that the society’s administration should remain in the hands of its rightful stakeholders.
The committee further directed the FIA to submit complete details regarding the current management structure of the Senate Housing Society and outline the legal measures taken so far. Lawmakers noted that greater transparency is essential to restore the confidence of members who have been awaiting possession of their plots for years.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of conducting thorough due diligence before investing in any housing project. Prospective buyers are encouraged to verify a project’s legal status, approvals, and management credentials to reduce investment risks and make informed real estate decisions.
