First-Ever Shipment from Pakistan Under TIR Extents Tashkent
Islamabad: The Prime Minister’s Trade and Investment Advisor, Abdul Razak Dawood, announced on Monday that the first shipment of Pakistan under Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) was expected to arrive in Tashkent, Uzbekistan within 48 hours from Torkham, Pakistan.

The adviser said Pakistan’s long-term vision for trade and economic relations with Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and the Central Asian Republics (CAR) is to make Pakistan a hub for trade, transit and transshipment.
The consignment of medicinal plants was brought into Afghanistan after completing customs formalities in Torkham.

Pakistan became a party to the TIR Convention in 2017 and the convention now has 68 signatories, including China, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey and all CARs.
The objective of the TIR Convention is to facilitate international transit through simplified Customs transit procedures and an international guarantee system.
Customs clearance takes place at the point of origin and destination rather than at each border crossing using a single guarantee.
