Funds Increased for Lahore to Expand Road Infrastructure
According to news reports, the provincial government of Lahore has decided to boost the urban development budget by PKR 10 billion for the improvement of road infrastructure in Lahore.

For this project, the housing department will collaborate with other relevant departments. The new urban development projects will involve the construction of underpasses, new U-turns, and subways, as well as the elimination of traffic signals on roadways.
In addition, the government has vowed to transform Lahore into a smart city. Since 2012, the government has endeavoured to turn Lahore into a smart city. The Punjab Municipal Department partnered with the Punjab Information and Technology Board on this project (PITB). This programme is projected to cost 0.85 billion Pakistani rupees.

As part of this programme, a parking stand, street light sensors, garbage bin sensors, and air quality sensors will be deployed across the city. According to reports, electronic payment terminals for parking would be put at the parking stand. It will also be possible to monitor and administer smart city applications in real time.
