Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin stated that the development of Gilgit-Baltistan is the current administration’s main priority.

During a meeting with Khalid Khursheed, the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, the minister stated that all possible measures would be made to ensure the timely availability of money for the progress and development of Gilgit-Baltistan through megaprojects.
According to a statement released by the finance ministry, the Chief Minister informed the finance minister of the strategic importance of Gilgit-Baltistan and emphasized the need for socio-economic and territorial development in the region.
He also highlighted the initiatives being made to improve tourism in order to generate more cash for the local community.

Tourism is a large and rising economy, but there is a bigger need to enhance transit infrastructure and promote high-yielding crops and livestock goods to establish Gilgit-Baltistan on a trajectory of all-inclusive growth, he said.
The announcement that Skardu would become an international airport will usher in a new age of tourism growth, he continued.
