The Economic Coordination Committee has approved a Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) of Rs. 10 million for the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to cover expenses related to meals and refreshments for lawmakers during the ongoing federal budget session.

According to official sources, the ministry informed the ECC that it manages parliamentary business, including sessions of both the National Assembly of Pakistan and the Senate of Pakistan. It said the budget session is a constitutional requirement that often involves extended sittings beyond normal working hours.

The ministry explained that the allocated budget under the “Entertainment and Gifts” head was insufficient to cover costs such as working lunches, dinners, and tea provided to parliamentarians at Parliament House during the session.

It further noted that the Finance Bill must be passed within constitutional deadlines, making the expenditure unavoidable and not easily adjustable within existing allocations. On this basis, the ministry sought additional funding of Rs. 10 million through a TSG.

The request was endorsed by the Finance Division of Pakistan and subsequently approved by the ECC under Demand No. 81 for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
