Government Contractors Seek Payment for Completed Projects
Lower Division: The Malakand division of the government contractors’ association has declared an indefinite strike against the government for failing to release funding for the contractors’ work on various development projects.

In this regard, a meeting of the association’s district presidents and general secretaries was held in Chakdara, with divisional president Ikramullah presiding. The meeting was attended by contractors from Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Chitral, Bajaur, Swat, Malakand, and Buner.
According to them, the government had to pay billions of rupees to contractors for finished projects in several Malakand division districts. Due to a shortage of funding, they said they had no choice but to cease work on the ongoing development initiatives.

The speakers stated that they had secured loans on stringent terms for payment to unskilled and skilled employees with the expectation that the government would quickly release the funds; nevertheless, despite the passage of three years, they have not been paid.
The contractors also asked that lawmakers stop interfering with development initiatives.
