Government Sets 1-Year Target for SEZ Colonization
Islamabad: According to press sources, Khalid Mansoor, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Affairs, stated on Monday that the government has set a one-year objective of attracting forty businesses to the country’s nine Special Economic Zones (SEZs). He asserted that despite the present pandemic, major portions of the economic zones had already been constructed.

Mansoor stated that five economic zones are currently under construction and would be finished soon. Rashakai, Dhabeji, Allama Iqbal, and Bostan are among the Special Economic Zones that have began operations. The Islamabad Capital Territory Industrial Zone, Industrial Park Steel Mill, Mirpur Industrial Zone, Mohmand Marble City, and Moqpondass Special Economic Zone are among the ongoing operations in Gilgit Baltistan (GB).

Mr. Mansoor noted that Pakistan and China are prepared to launch the second phase of the CPEC, which will involve the development of industrial and agricultural complexes. He emphasized that the completion of these projects will result in socioeconomic progress and employment opportunities for young people.
