Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch the Mate 90 series in China this October, and a new leak has revealed some early details about the flagship Mate 90 Pro Max.
According to Chinese tipster Smart Pikachu, the upcoming Mate 90 Pro Max could feature a dual telephoto camera system similar to the one used in the previous-generation Mate 80 Pro Max.
The leak suggests that one of the telephoto lenses may offer up to 10x optical zoom, marking a notable upgrade in Huawei’s smartphone photography capabilities. The company is also said to be testing a 1-inch type image sensor, which is likely intended for the primary camera.
In addition to the hardware upgrades, the overall camera performance of the Mate 90 lineup is reportedly expected to deliver significant improvements.
On the display side, the Mate 90 Pro Max is rumored to feature a flat screen design, a move that could appeal to users who prefer flatter panels over curved displays.
For comparison, the Mate 80 Pro Max, launched in China in November last year, came equipped with dual 50MP periscope telephoto cameras offering 4x and 6.2x optical zoom. It also featured a 50MP main camera with variable aperture support.
