IPPs Dues Payment by the Government
Islamabad: The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) told the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Tuesday that the government had paid IPPs Rs 134 billion.
NEPRA questioned how recently the government had made payments to pay the IPPs’ dues. In response, on October 20, 2021, CPPA authorities announced during a public hearing on Fuel Charges Adjustment that “IPPs dues were paid by the government” (FCA).
The government recently gave the power division the first payment of Rs 58.2 billion. Out of the total, the electricity division gave IPPS 54.2 billion and TNB Liberty Power Limited Rs 5.8 billion.
The Federal Economic Coordination Committee previously authorized the second tranche of Rs 134.7 billion payment to IPPs (ECC). According to the plea, the actual cost per unit of power generation in October compared to the cost of fuel per unit was Rs 9.92.

According to information provided to NEPRA by CPPA, the percentage of power generated by hydroelectric sources was 23.26%, coal was 16.69%, HSD was 0.51%, RFO was 10.88%, gas was 9.67%, RLNG was 23.93%, nuclear was 12.33%, and the wind was 1.64%.
The authorities will publish its judgment following document verification while taking into account the facts and numbers according to the sources.
