Israel to Build Over 1,300 Settler Homes in West Bank
Israel’s intention to construct further settlements for Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank was immediately condemned by Palestinians, peace campaigners, and Jordan.
The announcement from the housing and construction ministry of right-wing Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s cabinet stated that bids for 1,355 homes in the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since the 1967 Six-Day War, had been issued.
The Palestinian Authority will closely monitor the response of the administration of US Vice President Joe Biden, which has stated its opposition to unilateral Israeli settlement expansion as an impediment to a two-state solution to the conflict.
Approximately 475,000 Israeli Jews live in settlements in the West Bank, which are illegal under international law, on land Palestinians claim for their future state.

Since assuming office in June, Bennett has endeavored to strengthen ties with Jordan, a major Israeli security ally with which Jordan criticized the statement as a violation of international law.
Since 1967, every Israeli administration has continued the construction of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem. However, development has surged in recent years under Netanyahu, with a considerable increase during the administration of former US president Donald Trump.
