Enforcement teams of the Punjab Food Authority (Punjab Food Authority), on the instructions of Director General Syed Musa Raza, carried out a series of operations in Raiwind Road, Data Ganj Bakhsh Town, and Paragon City.

During the crackdown, authorities sealed a well-known nihari outlet, a fast-food restaurant, and a confectionery unit for violating food safety regulations. In addition, fines totaling Rs. 150,000 were imposed on three food businesses for non-compliance with hygiene and safety standards.

Food safety inspections were conducted at five establishments, where officials reported the use of loose and substandard spices in the preparation of nihari and other food items. The DG noted that several outlets were operating under poor hygiene conditions, including insect infestation and unhygienic kitchen environments.

He further stated that dairy products and meat were being stored together in contaminated and foul-smelling freezers, some showing signs of fungal growth. Inspectors also found that mandatory oil change records were missing, along with required medical and training certificates for food handlers.

In addition, expiry and production dates were not properly displayed on both raw and prepared food items. Authorities also observed violations such as smoking and naswar consumption in food preparation areas, as well as the use of unfiltered water in cooking processes.

The DG emphasized that continuous enforcement operations are being carried out day and night to protect public health, warning that no leniency will be shown to businesses that compromise food safety standards.
