Authorities in Lahore have announced plans to set up temporary cattle markets starting May 13 to facilitate citizens ahead of Eid al-Adha 2026.
The Punjab Cattle Market Management Company will establish five temporary sale points across the city for buying and selling sacrificial animals. Meanwhile, the Shahpur Kanjran Cattle Market will continue to operate year-round as a model market.
Additional temporary markets will be set up at multiple locations, including Saggian, Wahga Sports Complex, Barkee Road, LDA City, and Raiwind, covering large areas to accommodate increased activity during the festive season.
To improve convenience, authorities will provide essential facilities such as tents, water supply, and public awareness banners. Security arrangements will involve the Punjab Police and Para Force, while support services from Rescue 1122, the Health Department, and the Livestock Department will ensure smooth operations.
At the same time, in Karachi, authorities have allowed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to set up cattle markets at several designated locations across the city for Eid preparations.
According to official details, markets will be established at Sunday Bazar in North Karachi, KMC Grounds, Safari Park, and areas of Gulistan-e-Johar. Additional livestock markets will also be arranged on vacant plots in Lyari’s Bakra Piri area and Korangi.
Earlier, KMC had proposed setting up multiple cattle markets across the city to better regulate livestock trade and provide organized facilities for buyers and sellers during the Eid season.
