Land of 64 Villages to Be Acquired for Sambrial-kharian Motorway
Gujrat may purchase at least 180 acres of property for the construction of the 69-kilometer-long Sambrial-Kharian motorway, as the survey of buildings, trees, and other infrastructure along the planned route has not yet been finished.
According to local government and National Highways Authority (NHA) sources, 64 villages in the districts of Gujrat and Sialkot have been identified for land acquisition. The villages comprise 28 from the Gujrat and 22 from the Kharian tehsils of the Gujrat district, as well as 14 from the Sialkot Sambrial tehsil. Upon completion of a second survey, the exact dimensions of the required area may be determined.
In the villages, however, the deputy commissioners of both districts have already submitted a notification under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, indicating that around 160 to 180 acres of land may be purchased.

The Sambrial-Kharian motorway is the expansion of the Lahore-Sialkot motorway (M11), which will be extended to Islamabad; however, like with the first phase (Lahore-Sialkot), the second and third stages up to Islamabad, this motorway is being constructed with two lanes on each side.
The M-11 can accommodate the addition of a third lane on both sides, for which sufficient land is provided.
