LHC to be Moved Against Solar Plant Establishment
Multan: The Thal Bachao Committee (TBC) will file a public interest litigation suit with the Lahore High Court in opposition to the development of a solar plant on 650 acres earmarked for forest plantation in Rakh Chaubara, Chaubara tehsil, Layyah.

Fazal-e-Rub Lund, chairman of the TBC, stated that the plant was being constructed in violation of state law because the Rakhook property (common grazing area) could not be assigned or leased to anyone.
He stated that not only were villagers revolting against the wrong and illegitimate decision, but also the provincial forest department, which stated it will begin planting on the site.

In September of last year, the Punjab Power Development Board of the Energy Department, the Alternate Energy Development Board, and Zhenfa Pakistan New Energy Company signed a deal for the establishment of the 100-megawatt solar project at a cost of Rs 10 billion.
The land lease deal was signed by the provincial energy minister on January 5.
