NADRA Told to Refurbish i-Voting in Seven Days
Islamabad: The National Database and Registry (NADRA) has abolished the internet voting system without the permission of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the officials involved were recently known.

The Electoral Reform Commission directed NADRA to restore the electronic voting system within seven days.
According to sources, NADRA did not seek ECP’s permission in October 2018 when it abolished the online voting system for Pakistanis abroad.

Information Technology hired a team of consultants to test the Internet voting system.
According to the ECP’s external voting rules, eligible voters must have a valid National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), a valid Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and a valid email address. Overseas Pakistani voters who wish to vote must access the overseas voting system via the Internet and create an account with the following credentials:
their name, e-mail address, password of their choice, mobile phone number (optional) and their country of residence.

After the account is successfully registered, a second verification process will be initiated, where the system will ask random questions regarding the voter’s identification information and if answered correctly, the system will will display the message “Verified successfully”.
