Nepal’s national airline faced intense online criticism after posting a flight network map that appeared to depict Kashmir as part of Pakistan.
The image quickly drew backlash from Indian social media users, who argued that it misrepresented India’s territorial boundaries. Screenshots of the map spread rapidly, amplifying the controversy and prompting calls for action against the airline. Some users even urged the Indian government to impose a ban, calling the depiction unacceptable given the sensitivity of the Kashmir issue.
We sincerely apologize for error in the network map recently shared on our social media channels. The map contained significant cartographic inaccuracies regarding international boundaries that do not reflect the official stance of Nepal or Nepal Airlines. pic.twitter.com/E5MZSS8CjQ

As the outrage grew, Nepal Airlines deleted the post and issued a public apology. The airline acknowledged that the map contained “significant cartographic inaccuracies” and clarified that it did not reflect the official stance of either the airline or Nepal.
In its statement, Nepal Airlines said it had removed the image promptly and initiated an internal review to prevent similar errors in the future.
