NLC to Complete PKR 4.9 billion IJP Road in 18 Months
According to news sources, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan announced that the National Logistics Cell (NLC) has begun construction on the Islamabad/Inter Junction Principal Route (IJP) road.

Minister Khan disclosed this information in a Senate meeting, stating that the project’s completion will take 18 months and cost PKR 4,9 billion.
In July of this year, the bid for the aforementioned project was advertised. According to the proposed design, there will be two bridges and two flyovers on IJP Road to alleviate traffic congestion, flyovers on 9th Avenue and IJP Road, and two bridges at Kattarian and Pirwadhai to maintain a steady flow of traffic in the capital.

The minister further stated that the main IJP road was last repaired in 2016-2017 and is currently neglected. According to reports, IJP road is the main road between Rawalpindi and Punjab and is one of Islamabad’s busiest roads.
Minister Ali Muhammad added that the government aims to construct a 15-million-gallon-capacity dam on the Soan River. The proposed dam would be constructed with the Punjab government and the Capital Development Authority (CDA). After the project, the twin cities’ water problems will be better addressed.
