NO Objection to Privatization of Jinnah Convention Centre
Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) stated that it has no objections to the privatization of the Jinnah Convention Centre (JCC), but is awaiting the Ministry of Privatization’s study results before receiving a revised assignment letter.
In contrast, the Privatization Commission reported that the JCC transaction was halted after the CDA altered its position.
The JCC is located at one end of Constitution Avenue and is utilized by business and public sector groups for exhibitions and symposia.
The Senate Standing Committee on Privatization was informed last month that the JCC transaction had been halted after the CDA “changed its position about the facility.”

The committee was informed that the CDA opposed the sale of the JCC on the grounds that it could not be transformed from recreational to commercial use in accordance with the regulations. The CDA’s objection came as the Privatization Commission (PC) was nearing the completion of the JCC’s transaction.
Since the CDA is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior, the Senate requested that the Interior Committee considers the matter.
