The federal government has expanded the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar (PM-APG) housing finance programme to include overseas Pakistanis, in a move aimed at broadening access to affordable housing finance and strengthening participation in the housing sector.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division.
Under the revised framework, the programme will now formally include overseas Pakistanis as eligible participants. The updated structure also introduces greater reliance on institutional financing, public-private partnerships, and participation from non-banking financial institutions to help scale up housing finance outreach.
The expanded approach is intended to accelerate progress toward national housing targets by widening the pool of investors and improving access to financing options for citizens, including those living abroad. Officials said the reforms are designed to strengthen the overall reach and effectiveness of the housing initiative while supporting broader economic and construction sector activity.
