Owners to Inform Police Before Renting House in Capital
Islamabad: According to recent reports, the administration of Islamabad has requested that owners and dealers notify the police prior to renting a home in Islamabad. The step has been implemented at the police’s request.

According to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat, Section 144 has been enacted to compel property dealers, brokers, and owners to give tenant information to the police before renting any property. As a result, the police will be able to acquire information on every resident of the capital. The police suspect that the rented houses were utilized for illicit reasons, according to the DC.
2009 saw the implementation of tenant registration, according to police officials. As part of this program, the police obtained the following information about the tenants:
- Tenant’s name
- Father’s moniker
- CNIC number Occupation
- Number of family members

The police next verified the accuracy of the information and looked for a criminal history. According to accounts, crooks have altered their strategy. Before shifting to nullahs and forested areas, the crooks utilized the modest hotel for their operations. They currently reside in rented homes.
