Pakistan Register 16% Increase in FDI in September 2021
According to news reports, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) declared a 16% rise in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for the month of September 2021.

Compared to the same period last year, foreign direct investment (FDI) of USD 236 million from the information technology (IT) industry, power, oil and gas exploration, and banking sectors has increased significantly. However, FDI from July to September was 4% lower at USD 439.1 million compared to the same period the previous year when USD 456.6 million was reported.
Similarly, public data suggests that a substantial percentage of FDI in FY-22 came from U.S. investors and totaled USD 100.9 million, up from USD 19.7 million during the same period in FY-21. China was the second-largest investor, with USD 76.9 million, a fall of 50% compared to the prior year.

Other prominent investors include the Netherlands, which invested USD 60 million, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which invested USD 49.7 million; the United Kingdom (UK), which invested USD 30.3 million; and Hong Kong, which invested USD 34.8 million.
At the current rate, economists predict FDI in the current fiscal year to reach between $1.5 and $2 billion.
