Pakistan Signs MOU for Exporting Onion to China
Islamabad: Pakistan and China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to trade onions, which will make it easier to export the agricultural product to other nearby nations.
Syed Fakhr Imam, the minister for national food security and research, and Nong Rong, the Chinese ambassador, signed the protocol for inspection and quarantine requirements for exporting onions from Pakistan to China between the Department of Plant Protection (DPP) and the General Administration of Customs China (GACC) in Islamabad.
The two sides agreed once more that such measures would improve ties between the two nations. The signing of such trade-related memorandums of understanding would strengthen ties between the citizens of the two nations, according to a statement made at the conclusion of the ceremony.

According to the minister, Pakistan has been exporting rice, mangoes, and citrus fruits to China after meeting all of China’s phytosanitary import standards. The current Protocol would also educate Pakistani onion producers on quarantine and phytosanitary compliance.
To secure the pest-free export of the crop to China, the DPP will carry out pest assessments and apply procedures for integrated pest control that are globally recognized during the onion growing season.
